My path to a Master's in AI for Business
A working plan for the MS-AIB at ASU's W. P. Carey School of Business and how the program fits into my transition from cybersecurity into AI strategy and governance.
Why this degree, why now
I'm finishing a BS in Information Technology with a Cybersecurity focus at ASU. My experience with technology and security has shown me how quickly AI is changing the tools businesses depend on.
The MS-AIB interests me because it combines AI with business strategy, leadership, governance, and responsible implementation instead of treating AI as only a technical subject.
How I got here
My path to the MS-AIB has been built one step at a time. Technology, cybersecurity, ASU, and even driving for Uber have all played a role in getting me to this point.
Technology
Building my technical foundation
My background in technology and cybersecurity gave me experience with the systems, security, and technical problems that businesses depend on every day.
ASU
Finishing my BS in Information Technology
I chose a degree program that was covered through Uber’s education partnership with ASU. By using the Uber Pro education benefit, I was able to have my undergraduate tuition covered while working toward my BS in Information Technology.
Uber Pro
Opportunity to pay for it
I used the Uber Pro education benefit to cover my undergraduate tuition at ASU. Driving for Uber became part of my education plan and gave me a practical way to keep moving toward my degree while limiting the financial burden of finishing school.
Next Step
Moving toward AI leadership
As my interests expanded beyond cybersecurity, I became more interested in AI strategy, governance, responsible implementation, and the business decisions behind emerging technology. The MS-AIB is the next step in that path.
Three ways to earn it
The MS-AIB can be completed through the standard Tempe program, an extended third-semester option, or online.

Where things stand
My bachelor's degree is expected to be completed in December 2027, which makes January 2028 my earliest realistic MS-AIB start. I am using the time before then to finalize budget, housing, and the career direction I want the master's degree to support.
